Men's Volleyball Falls to NJIT in Three Straight

NEWARK, N.J. (February 19, 2008) – The eighth-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology men's volleyball team fell to Division I foe, New Jersey Institute of Technology Tuesday night in Newark, N.J. The match was decided in three games (24-30, 24-30, 19-30) as the Ducks drop to 6-7 on the season.

Stevens was led by junior outside hitter Tomas Bochicchio, who totaled 10 kills and six digs. Junior outside hitter Joe Trinsey posted seven kills and six digs in the defeat. Freshman setter Brandt Grobeis dished out 25 assists.

The Highlanders (6-3) were led by senior right-side hitter Leonardo Paludo (Balnéario Camboriú, Brazil), who recorded a team-high 21 kills and added four blocks and a pair of service aces. Junior setter Rodrigo Correa (Sao Paulo, Brazil) finished with 46 assists in the victory.

Defensively, junior middle hitter Robert Thomas (Port of Spain, Trinidad) had a match-high six total blocks. Correa led all players with eight digs, followed by senior libero Chris Siddayao (Clifton, N.J.) with seven.

The Ducks will travel to New Paltz, N.Y. to take on SUNY New Paltz on Wednesday night scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
