ROCHESTER, N.Y. (February 13, 2010) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's volleyball team snapped its three-game losing skid with a 3-1 (30-23, 30-25, 20-30, 30-25) victory over Eastern Mennonite University at the Nazareth College Invitational in Rochester, N.Y. Earlier in the day the Ducks dropped their third-consecutive match to a ranked opponent, falling to No. 14 Medaille College, 3-0 (30-24, 30-27, 30-23). 
Junior SteFan PremDas hammered home 18 kills to lead the Ducks offensively, while junior co-captain Brandt Grobeis collected 33 assists in two matches. Junior libero Aaron Ostrovsky chipped in with 18 digs. 
Stevens returns to action against SUNY New Paltz on February 17. 
No. 14 Medaille 3, No. 9 Stevens 0 (30-24, 30-27, 30-23) 
No. 14 Medaille opened the match hitting .438, registering 18 kills and four errors on 32 swings en route to a 30-24 first set victory. After a close, 30-27, triumph in the second set, the Mavericks again tallied a plus .400 hitting percentage to take the third and final set, 30-23. 
PremDas and freshman Tom Hannum combined for 16 kills to lead the Ducks offensively, while Grobeis dished out 29 assists. Ostrovsky collected 10 digs in defense. 
Senior outside hitter Ryan Murdie (Kenmore, N.Y.) hammered home a match-high 17 kills to lead Medaille, while senior Ryan Metz (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) and sophomore Nick Johnson (Buffalo, N.Y.) tallied 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Junior setter Ryan Maxwell (Amherst, N.Y.) had a match-high 47 assists, while junior libero Dan Jackson (Hamburg, N.Y.) chipped in with 13 digs. 
No. 9 Stevens 3, Eastern Mennonite 1 (30-23, 30-25, 20-30, 30-25) 
The Ducks opened up the first set with a .320 hitting percentage en route to a 30-23 victory. After a 30-25 second set loss, the Royals forced a fourth set with a 30-20 win in the third frame. Stevens once again broke the .300 plateau, hitting .351 in a 30-25 fourth set victory. 
PremDas and juniors Bryant DeFranco and Timothy Karl, each tallied nine kills to lead the Ducks, while senior Andrew Fessler added a team-high 18 assists. Ostrovsky chipped in with 15 assists and eight digs. 
Senior outside hitter Colton New (Richmond, Va.) and Justin Reesor (Stouffville, Ontario) each recorded 12 kills to pace the Royals' attack. Freshman setter John Barry (Worthington, Ohio) had 48 assists, while sophomore libero Nolan Prock (Virginia Beach, Va.) had 14 digs.
