DI Sacred Heart Takes Down Men's Volleyball

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (April 1, 2012) – The nationally ranked No. 5 Stevens Institute of Technology men's volleyball dropped a four-set match to Division I Sacred Heart University on the road in the team's final match before United Volleyball Conference Championship play on April 14-15. The Ducks fell, 25-18, 25-20, 20-25, 25-21, dropping to 25-7 on the season. Complete recap and statistics will be available tomorrow morning.

Sophomore David Evans (Penfield, N.Y.)
led the Ducks with 13 kills and chipped in eight digs in the loss. Junior Thomas Hannum (Libertyville, Ill.) added eight kills and three digs for Stevens as well.

Freshman Kevin Aeckerle (Henrietta, N.Y.) handed out a team-best 29 assists, while senior Wojciech Gajda (Woodside, N.Y.) recorded nine digs.

Stevens will take part in the United Volleyball Conference Championship on April 14 and 15 for a chance to earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament on the last weekend of April.
