BUFFALO, N.Y. (February 10, 2013) – The nationally ranked No. 6 Stevens Institute of Technology men's volleyball team completed a three-match sweep over United Volleyball Conference foes with a 3-1 victory against D'Youville College in the final contest of the opening UVC crossover. Stevens is now 7-3 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
After a first set loss, 26-24, the Ducks rolled off three consecutive games, 26-24, 25-16, 25-16, to take down the Spartans. Stevens is now only one of two members of the 12-team conference that holds an unblemished recorded against UVC foes.
Sophomore
Ian Tyger (York, Pa.) paced Stevens offensively with 13 kills and three service aces. Tyger also recorded seven digs and four total blocks.
Fellow sophomore
Dylan Schlosser (Emmaus, Pa.) handed out a match-high-tying 36 assists to go along with seven digs. Junior
Ryan Seifert (Chicopee, Mass.) hit .571 in the match with nine kills in 14 tries and added five digs and three total blocks.
Daniel Smith (Tucson, Ariz.), another sophomore
, tallied seven kills, seven digs and four blocks in three sets. Junior
David Evans (Penfield, N.Y.) contributed six kills, two digs and two blocks.
Freshman
Chris Vaughan (Medford, N.J.) posted a team-best 10 digs with four kills for the Ducks.
Stevens will be back in action for another UVC showdown against SUNY New Paltz on February 13 at 7 p.m. New Paltz is currently ranked ninth in the country.
