HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 8, 2013) – Despite the winter storm that will take over the northeast portion of the country this weekend, the Stevens Institute of Technology men's volleyball team will head up to Buffalo, N.Y. to participate in the first United Volleyball Conference crossover of the 2013 season hosted by Medaille College. Stevens, ranked sixth in the nation, brings a 4-3 overall record and 1-0 mark in the UVC into the crossover, and is scheduled to play two matches tomorrow and one on Sunday.

The Ducks will take on No. 14 Medaille at 1 p.m. on Saturday and then goes up against eleventh-ranked Elmira College at 5 p.m. They wrap up the weekend with an 11 a.m. showdown with D'Youville College on the 10th. All 12 member institutions will be involved in the crossover.

Stevens will be led by junior Ryan Seifert (Chicopee, Mass.) who is tops on the team with 103 points, 86 kills, 42 digs and eight service aces. Seifert has posted two double-doubles this season and narrowly missed a third (17 kills, nine digs) in a four set loss to New Jersey Institute of Technology on February 6.

Senior Thomas Hannum (Libertyville, Ill.) and junior David Evans (Penfield, N.Y.) have combined for 103 kills this season. Hannum sits second on the squad with 57, while Evans is close behind in third with 44.

Distributing the ball around to the plethora of hitters for the Ducks will be sophomore Kevin Aeckerle (Henrietta, N.Y.). Aeckerle eclipsed the 200-assist mark against NJIT and currently has 207 to his credit. He has notched 50-plus assists in two matches this season.

Senior Jake Modestow (Hampden, Mass.) will be Stevens' main threat at the net defensively with 28 total blocks. Modestow is now over 400 career total blocks and has just 87 to go for the school's all-time record.
