Box Score Highlights

HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 18, 2013) – The fifth-ranked and unbeaten Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team continued rolling Wednesday night, cruising to a 3-0 victory over previously unbeaten William Paterson University at the De Baun Athletic Complex.

Stevens' last two opponents came into the match at a combined record of 10-0-1, with the Ducks dismantling both visiting sides with a hyper-efficient offense and relentless defense. The Ducks have now outscored their foes 22-3 this season and are an amazing plus-19 in goal differential.

Sophomore midfielder Colin Phillips (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) gave the hosts a 1-0 edge at 29:44 and set up the squads second score of the night less than 10 minutes later to pace the Ducks.

On the first goal, Philips took a perfect pass from sophomore forward Carson Pryor (St. Louis, Mo.) into the right side of the box and delivered a precision shot into the upper-left corner for the score. It was the second-year player's fourth score of the year and had a lot to do with a great helper from Pryor who was just able to thread-the-needle to Phillips on the play.

The second goal was the result of a perfect pass out of the back from senior Zeke Hemme (Louisville, Ky.). Hemme started the run with a long ball to sophomore midfielder Joe Cellitti (Mendham, N.J.), who tapped to Phillips sprinting into the box. Phillips got off a fantastic shot that was miraculously saved by the outstretched arm of Pioneer goalkeeper Mike Diacheysn (Nutley, N.J.). The rebound skied directly to senior midfielder Edward Rupp (Sayville, N.Y.) charging in from the left side, and he headed in the tally. It was Rupp's first of the year to go along with his team-high three assists.

The lead stayed at two (2-0) through halftime and until the 64th minute when senior forward Stephen Dunbar (Johns Creek, Ga.) recorded his second score in as many outings, playing give-and-go with sophomore back Harrison Kane (Tulsa, Okla.). After receiving the initial pass from Dunbar, Kane put his return on the foot of Dunbar who did the rest.

Senior goalkeeper Paul Killian (Ellicott City, Md.) earned the shutout in net for the Ducks, making three saves. Stevens ended with a 12-9 edge in shots, while Paterson (5-1-0) had a 7-5 margin in corners.

Stevens will return to action on Saturday when it hosts Houghton College at the De Baun Athletic Complex. The action is set to get underway at 12 p.m. and will be webcast live at www.Empire8.TV.
