Kansas City, Mo. – Senior
Ethan Hagen, sophomore
Emerson Kekesi, and senior
Brian Babovic of the Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team
were all named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team on Tuesday.
Hagen was named to the First Team a year after earning Second Team honors, Kekesi garnered Second Team merit after a breakout sophomore season, and Babovic was selected to the Third Team.
In addition to a second All-Region honor, Hagen tacked on a third straight All-MAC Freedom selection, taking home the conference's Defensive Player of the Year Award. The Union, N.J. native started 18 of the team's 19 matches, averaging more than 85 minutes in those contests, playing all 90 minutes 10 times. In addition to helping hold the opposition to one goal or fewer 12 times, he also scored his first collegiate goal in a win over NYU, adding another goal and two assists in conference play. Following MAC Freedom Tournament shutout wins over Misericordia and Lebanon Valley, Hagen was also named the Tournament's Most Valuable Player.
Kekesi became just the third Duck since 2016 with at least 10 goals in a year thanks in large part to a remarkable back half of the season. Sitting on one goal through six matches, Kekesi scored eight goals in eight matches leading up to the MAC Freedom Tournament, including three game-winning goals in conference play, then tacked on a goal in the conference semifinals, assisted on the lone goal of the MAC Freedom Championship, and scored in the NCAA Tournament against Brandeis.
Babovic, like Hagen, was as constant and consistent end to end for the MAC Freedom regular season and tournament champs in 2025. Averaging nearly 75 minutes per match in his 18 appearances including all 90 minutes in 11 contests, Babovic registered an assist on the eventual game-winning goal against conference foe Arcadia, while holding Stevens' opponents to fewer than 10 shots and just over one goal per match.
