No. 7 Men’s Volleyball Sweeps Final Day of Regular Season

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 5, 2014) – The No. 7 Stevens Institute of Technology men's volleyball team wrapped up its regular season with a pair of victories at the Springfield College Tournament on Saturday. Stevens (20-8) topped No. 9 Medaille College in four sets and then swept Endicott College in its regular season finale.

Stevens 3, Endicott 0

The Ducks cruised past Endicott, 25-13, 25-20, 25-18, and outhit the Gulls, .323 to .119 in the match. Stevens also used 8.5 total blocks on 14 block assists and one solo.

Sophomore Chris Vaughan (Medford, N.J.) and freshman Gabe Shankweiler (Allentown, Pa.) each tallied 13 kills in the win to lead all players. Vaughan added four digs and three blocks to go along with a .346 hitting percentage. Shankweiler swung at a .407 clip and added five digs with two blocks.

Junior Daniel Smith (Tucson, Ariz.) tallied nine kills and a .533 hitting percentage, while sophomore John Eddins (Kula, Hawaii) chipped in seven kills with seven digs.

Junior Kevin Aeckerle (Henrietta, N.Y.) dished out a match-best 35 assists with six digs and two blocks, while classmate Dylan Schlosser (Emmaus, Pa.) added seven digs. Sophomore Alexander Carpenter (Delaware, Ohio) recorded six blocks and three kills.

Stevens heads to Nazareth College as the No. 6 seed in the United Volleyball Conference Championship and will take on third-seeded Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the quarterfinals on April 12.
