Men’s Soccer Travels To Ithaca For E8 Championship

HOBOKEN, N.J. (November 5, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team will be seeking its ninth consecutive Empire 8 Conference Championship this weekend when it takes the pitch in Ithaca.

CHAMPIONSHIP INFO
The Ducks will battle Houghton College Friday at 2 p.m. in the semifinal for the right to play either Ithaca College or Elmira College in Saturday's final. All matches will be played on Ithaca's campus.

DUCKS VS THE FIELD
Stevens is unbeaten in its three matches against this season's field including draws with Elmira and Houghton, and a 1-0 win over Ithaca.

DUCK DYNASTY
In addition to the eight consecutive conference titles, Stevens hasn't allowed a goal in championship play since the 2011 season. Since joining the conference for the 2007 season, the Ducks are 14-0-2 in the championship with just four goals allowed.

P&P BOYS
Seniors Colin Phillips and Carson Pryor lead the Ducks with 14 goals each, placing them in a tie for second in the conference.

TOP OF THE HEAP
As a team, the Ducks led the E8 this season in scoring average, goals, assists, and goals against average.

D IS KEY
Senior Harrison Kane and Jeff Althoff led a Stevens defense that allowed just 17 goals this season, and never allowed a multi-goal game to a conference opponent.

LIKE A GOOD NEIGHBOR
Junior Jay Mikula has registered an assist in five of the Ducks last eight matches, bringing his season total to a team-leading eight. The mark is good for second in the E8.

CAPTAIN CLUTCH
Five of Phillips' 14 goals this season have been game-winners, placing the senior tops in the E8 in that category.

BID-SEEKING
Winning the championship this weekend would send the Ducks to their 14th consecutive NCAA Tournament.
