AMHERST, Mass. (May 7, 2015) – The No. 22 Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team will battle No. 30 Skidmore College Friday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at 1 p.m.
The Ducks (19-5) are currently riding a 14 match win streak.
ESTABLISHED EXCELLENCE The Ducks are making their sixth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament, and eighth overall after clinching an automatic berth with a sixth straight Empire 8 Conference championship.
Stevens has made the second round in each of its last six appearances.
THE BRACKET With a win, the Ducks will play the winner of Yeshiva University and No. 2 Amherst College on Saturday at noon.
REMATCH Thanks to a sweep at doubles and wins at third through sixth singles, the Ducks topped Skidmore already this season, 7-2 in mid-April. The win snapped a two match win streak for the Thoroughbreds against Stevens.
BATTLE TESTED Stevens is no stranger to facing top competition after playing a 2015 schedule that included 10 opponents ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's top-40.
LEADER OF THE PACK Junior
Matthew Heinrich has been the Ducks primary leader at singles this season, compiling a 12-5 record and a No. 2 national ranking.
Heinrich was rewarded for his efforts Wednesday with the announcement of his inclusion to the NCAA Individual Championship for the second straight year.
DOUBLE TROUBLE Heinrich teamed with junior
Ben Foran this spring to put-together a 12-3 record at first doubles after claiming the ITA's northeast championship last fall.
Freshman
Danny Polk and sophomore
Charles Drake have been an equally as lethal team with an 11-1 record totaled from all three doubles positions.
