RESULTS
HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 6, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team secured its first win of the season Sunday, topping Elmira College 6-3 in Hoboken.
The win evened Stevens record at 1-1 while Elmira fell to 0-2.
Freshmen
Jill Hadwen and
Victoria Piskarev got the Ducks winning started with an 8-3 win at third doubles in the duos first career doubles win. Elmira bounced back with an 8-6 win at No. 1, but the Ducks answered with sophomore
Katrina Guido and freshman
Sydney Zoretic's 8-3 win at No. 2.
Senior
Julia Guignard continued the momentum with a 6-2, 6-0 win at fifth singles, but Elmira was once again able to answer with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4. Both teams once again traded points with Piskarev's win at No. 2 and Elmira's win at No. 1, but that's all the scoring Elmira would muster the rest of the match.
Senior
Jillian Morneau delivered the clincher with a three-set win at No. 6 before Guido completed the match with a three-set win of her own at No. 3.
The Ducks will continue their Empire 8 Conference schedule next weekend when they travel to Alfred University Saturday.
