Swimming To Battle Johns Hopkins Saturday

HOBOKEN, N.J. (January 14, 2016) – After a long layoff and a training trip, the Stevens Institute of Technology men's and women's swim teams will take on Johns Hopkins University Saturday.

MEET INFO
The dual meet will take place beginning at 1 p.m. in the Newton White Athletic Center Natatorium in Baltimore, Md.

PULLING RANK
Both teams come into the meet ranked in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America poll. On the men's side, Hopkins comes in at No. 4, while the Ducks are ranked No. 11. The Duck women are No. 16, with the Cardinals sliding in at No. 6.

SCOUTING HOPKINS
The JHU men have a dual meet record of 3-2-1 on the year, while the women are 5-0. Both the Cardinals and Ducks share a common opponent, as both sides have defeated Rowan University earlier in the year.

WOMEN'S RECAP
The women's team finished third at the Worcester Polytechnic Invitational on December 6. Sophomore Sarah Jurczyk grabbed an NCAA "B" cut time in the 200-yard butterfly, while the 800-yard freestyle relay team had a first place "B" cut time of 7:36.5.

MEN REWIND
The men's team placed first at the WPI Invitational, with senior Ravi Sun claiming first in six events, including a "B" cut time in the 100-yard backstroke. The 200-yard medley squad took home first place with a mark of 1:30.30, which was good for a "B" cut time.

SUN RISES
Sun was named Empire 8 Conference Swimmer of the Week on December 7, after winning the six events. Last winter, Sun qualified for the NCAA Championships in three different events.
