HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 23, 2016) – The No. 6 Stevens Institute of Technology men's volleyball team will be back in action Wednesday, taking on New Jersey City University.
MATCH INFOThe Ducks will be hosting the Gothic Knights in Canavan Arena at 6 p.m.
HOME COOKIN'Over the last three seasons, the Ducks boast a 24-4 record inside Canavan, including a 5-0 mark this season.
SHUTOUT CITYFor the first time in school history, Stevens shut out an opponent in a set. On Sunday, the Ducks topped Rust College 25-0, 25-1, 25-2.
GREAT GABEJunior
Gabe Shankweiler was named United Volleyball Conference Player of the Week after tallying 20 kills and 21 aces over three matches and seven sets this week.
RECORDS FALLShankweiler set a new standard with 16 service aces in the match against Rust, and the team as a unit broke school-record for aces as well. In 2001, the team served up 33 aces against Yeshiva University and Newbury College. Now, the record sits at 44.
ACES FOR AYALSenior
Ayal Ciobotaru chipped in a trio of service aces against York College Sunday, his first three aces of the season.
BLOCK PARTYSophomore
Thomas Burrell is second in the UVC in blocks per set, averaging 1.22 total blocks over 37 sets.
SCOTTY DOESN'T KNOWOver two sets played Sunday, senior
Scott Wright racked up three kills, two block assists and a staggering nine service aces.
NJCU REPORTThe Gothic Knights enter the match with an 8-7 overall record, and are 3-3 in the Skyline Conference. Daque Wilcox leads NJCU with 118 kills, while Erick Nascimento has dished out 332 assists.
