Men’s Basketball Hosts Ithaca In Pivotal E8 Matchup

HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 8, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team (9-11, 5-6) hosts Ithaca College Tuesday in a battle for the final spot in the Empire 8 Conference Championship.

Tip is set for 6 p.m. at Canavan Arena in Hoboken.

WEEKEND REWIND
A 65-point second half propelled the Ducks over Houghton College Friday, 103-86, before a loss to Alfred University Saturday evened the weekend. 

SCOUTING REPORT
At 11-9 (5-6), Ithaca enters Tuesday's matchup off loses to the E8's top two teams in Nazareth College and St. John Fisher College. Marc Chasin leads the Bombers in scoring at 19.4 points per game, heading a group of five who average double-figures in scoring. 

WHAT'S AT STAKE
With identical 5-6 conference records, Stevens and Ithaca are in a tie for the fourth and final spot in the E8 Championship with five games to go.  

BUCKLE UP
Stevens and Ithaca combined have averaged over 235 points a game over the last two matchups, games in which both teams have scored at least 110 points.

DOUBLE-DOWN
Senior Alex Lorenz tallied his seventh double-double of the season, and fourth in the last six games, in Saturday's loss to Alfred. Lorenz's 15 boards on Saturday set a new career-high.

Led by 86 percent shooting from junior Evan Klimchak, Stevens leads the E8 in free throw percentage at 76 percent. 

Z FOR THREE
Senior Kevin Zychwoski's scored in double-figures in three of the Ducks last five games. In those contests, the senior's gone 13-for-21 from beyond the arc.
