Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla. (March 18, 2016) – The No. 4 Stevens Institute of Technology men's volleyball team fell to Grand View College in four sets Friday.
The Ducks saw its 10 match winning streak snapped and fell to 22-5, while Grand View upped its mark to 13-5.
With the first set tied at nine, the Ducks rolled off four straight points, capped off with a pair of kills from junior
Gabe Shankweiler. Grand View would get within one point, at 22-21, but Stevens rolled off the final three points, capped up with a kill from senior
Etan Bennett.
After hitting .292 in the first set, the Ducks were unable to keep the momentum going. Over the next two stanzas, Stevens hit .094 and -.261, while Grand View was in the positives in both sets. What's been the Ducks biggest strength was the number of service aces; in four sets, the Ducks only had three, while surrendering six.
Senior
Tim Ferriter led the way with 21 kills, while Shankweiler had six kills and three digs. Senior
John Eddins and junior
Scott Russell combined to hand out 35 assists.
Pedro Cardoso led Grand View with 23 kills. The Ducks will play a pair of games tomorrow, starting with St. Ambrose College at 11 a.m.
