Men’s Tennis Heads West

HOBOKEN, N.J. (March 18, 2016) – The No. 25 Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team will face four opponents ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association top-40 rankings next week, as part of the team's spring break trip to California. 

THE SLATE
The Ducks will open Monday at 1 p.m. against No. 4 University of Chicago, play No. 22 Tufts University Tuesday at 1 p.m., No. 11 Bowdoin College Thursday at noon, and conclude with No. 8 Pomona-Pitzer College Friday at 1 p.m.

All matches will take place in Claremont, Calif.

SPRING SO FAR
Riding a four-match win streak, the Ducks bring a 5-1 record so far this spring into the trip. Stevens owns wins against three nationally-ranked teams in No. 33 North Carolina Wesleyan, No. 30 Swarthmore College, and No. 27 Brandeis University. 

GOING, GOING, BACK, BACK, TO CALI, CALI
The Ducks last competed in Claremont during their spring break in 2014, where they faced three teams who were ranked at the time.

HEAD DUCK
Leading the Ducks so far this season has been senior Ben Foran, who brings an 11-0 record overall into action next week. Foran is 5-0 at singles, and has teamed with senior Matthew Heinrich to go 5-0 at first doubles.

NO. 2
Enjoying an impressive start to his season, junior Charles Drake is tied for the team with five wins at singles. Drake is 3-0 at No. 2, in addition to three wins at doubles.

NEXT UP
After next week's matches, the Ducks will have played eight teams this spring ranked in the ITA top-40.

DOUBLE TROUBLE
The Ducks are undefeated this season when they hold the advantage after doubles. Heinrich and Foran have combined for 11 wins, while sophomores Danny Polk and Kyle Henry are 4-2 together.
