Ducks To Face Nittany Lions in UNC Wesleyan-hosted Pod

Hoboken, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team is headed to Rocky Mount, NC this weekend to begin the 2026 NCAA DIII men's tennis championships, as announced on Monday afternoon.

The Ducks will head to the UNC Wesleyan regional for an opening match with PSU-Harrisburg, United East Conference Champions for the third straight season, with the winner advancing to face Emory, a Top 10 team in the country. The other half of the pod features the host Battling Bishops against Albright, with the winner facing No. 9 Johns Hopkins; the last two teams in the pod will square off in the Round of 16.

Stevens earned the automatic berth to the tournament after winning a sixth straight Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom championship last Saturday, blanking Lebanon Valley 4-0 in the final after blanking Misericordia 4-0 in the semifinal last Wednesday. Senior Max-William Kanz was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player for the second straight year.

Earlier on Monday, Stevens came away with a myriad of MAC Freedom All-Conference honors, with Kanz taking home Player of the Year honors, Ian Batra winning Rookie of the Year, and Steve Gachko being tabbed Coach of the Year. Additionally, Kanz, Batra, and Samvid Andhare were all named First Team All-Conference, Renat Kramin, Dhaivik Chenemilla, & Johnny Haase earned Second team selections.

The Nittany Lions enter this year's Championships 11-7, fresh off a second straight unbeaten United East Conference season, culminating with a 4-0 UEC Tournament Semifinal win over PSU-Berks and a 4-1 win over St. Mary's (Md.) in the UEC Championship Match.

The championships will conclude with semifinal action on May 20 and the championship match on May 22 at Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, TN.
