Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. (March 22, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology softball team dropped its Tuesday opener 11-2 to three-time defending national champion No. 4 Tufts University, before falling 7-4 to Hood College in game two.
The losses were the first blemishes of the season for Stevens as it fell to 6-2, while Tufts and Hood moved to 5-2 and 9-4 respectively.

Gavriella Risman-Jones each singled to put two on with two outs, where sophomore
Farryl Groder drove them in after reaching on an error at first.
Freshman starter
Christine LaRochelle held the lead by working around a one-out single in the second, but Tufts answered with three in the third to take the 3-2 lead.
Tufts added to it with two more in the fourth, before clinching the run-rule win with six in the fifth off four hits and an error.
Risman-Jones and sophomore
Corinne Loncar each tallied a pair of hits in what was Risman-Jones' seventh consecutive multi-hit game. LaRochelle struck out four in her first loss of the season.
