Softball Travels To NYU In Mid-Week Matchup

HOBOKEN, N.J. (March 29, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology softball team (8-4) will look to continue its winning start Wednesday when it travels to New York University for a road doubleheader. 

GAME INFO
Game one starts at 3 p.m., followed tentatively by game two at 5 p.m. Both games will take place on the campus of Fordham University. 

SPRING BREAK REWIND
Stevens went 6-4 last week during its spring break trip to Clermont, Fla., which included wins over Allegheny College, Union College, and Fredonia State. 

SCOUTING REPORT
At 9-11, NYU enters action on Wednesday off a sweep at the hands on Montclair State University. Diana King leads the Violets with a .457 batting average and 15 RBIs, while Diana King has a 2.70 ERA with 15 strikeouts in 23.1 innings. 

NEW RIVAL
The Ducks swept NYU last season in the Violets' first season as a varsity program with 11-3, and 4-1 wins. 

TABLE SETTER
Senior Gavriella Risman-Jones is off to a red-hot start to her 2016 season, leading the team with a .575 batting average, 23 hits, 26 total bases, and 15 runs. Risman-Jones leads the Empire 8 Conference in all four of those categories. 

DRIVING 'EM IN
Sophomores Corinne Loncar and Olivia Gemma lead the team with 11 and 10 RBIs respectively, placing the duo second and third in the E8.

FRESHMAN POP
Freshman Katherine Tirabassi homered twice for the Ducks last week in Florida. The Stevens rookie is third on the team with eight RBIs.

CIRCLE REPORT
Senior Brianna Sandone is the Stevens leader with a 2.33 ERA so far this spring, while freshmen Marissa Cappello and Christine LaRochelle have ERAs of 2.69, and 3.41. Cappello is the team leader with 24 strike outs. 

FLASHING LEATHER
Risman-Jones and sophomore Farryl Groder have each played flawless defense in the outfield for the Ducks, combining to make 20 put-outs in 21 chances.
