No. 4 Men’s Volleyball Hosts UVC Finale

HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 1, 2016) – The No. 4 Stevens Institute of Technology men's volleyball team concludes its regular season with a pair of United Volleyball Conference matches on Saturday.

MATCH DETAILS
The Ducks will welcome Penn State-Behrend to Hoboken at 11 a.m. before squaring off with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at 4 p.m. PSB and MIT will battle at 1:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Stevens rolled through in-state rival Ramapo College in straight on Wednesday night. Since falling to Carthage College on February 26, the Ducks have won 13 of 14 matches and ran their record to 25-5.

PENN STATE REPORT
The Lions are 7-16, and 1-5 in the UVC so far this season. Junior Trenton Munk leads Penn State-Behrend with 238 kills, while freshman Anthony Sprentz has handed out 736 assists.

MIT SCOUTING
The Engineers boast a 3-3 UVC conference and have won nine of their last 11 games. At 20-6 overall, MIT has three players over 200 kills, led by 249 from freshman Matt Reilly.

WHAT'S AT STAKE
With two victories, the Ducks can lock down the second seed in next weekend's UVC Conference Tournament. SUNY-New Paltz has already locked down the No. 1 seed, going a perfect 8-0 in conference play.

SENIOR FAREWELL
In between the two matches, Stevens will honor seniors Chris Vaughan, Scott Wright, Etan Bennett, Tim Ferriter, Ayal Ciobotaru and John Eddins in a pre-match ceremony.

BLOCKADE
Sophomore Thomas Burrell is tops in blocks per set during conference matches, tallying 1.5 per set. Junior Jordan Stuart is third, with 1.07.

SERVE 'EM UP
Stevens is second in the UVC with 1.86 service aces per set, and tied for second in blocks per set.

FEND OFF THE ATTACK
Opponents are only hitting .168 against the Ducks in 111 sets played, while Stevens is hitting .304, good for third best.
