HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 15, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology softball team (15-11, 5-3) will play its final two Empire 8 Conference opponents at home this season when it hosts Nazareth College and No. 20 St. John Fisher this weekend.
WEEKEND INFO
The Ducks kick-off the weekend against Nazareth College Saturday at 1 p.m., followed by Sunday's doubleheader with Fisher at the same time. Each game will be played at Weehawken Waterfront Park.
LAST TIME OUT
Despite overcoming a 10-run deficit in game one, the Ducks dropped both games of a Thursday doubleheader against Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham, 17-16 and 10-5.
SCOUTING REPORT
Led at the plate by Maureen Rogers' .352 batting average, Naz enters the weekend 12-8 (0-2) and having won three of its last four.
Fisher (19-5, 1-1) is led in the circle by its ace Lindsey Thayer and her 0.42 ERA and 169 strikeouts. Thayer is the E8 leader in ERA, wins, strikeouts, and innings pitched.
WHERE THEY STAND
Stevens enters the weekend in third place in the E8, while Fisher is in fifth. Naz is sitting in last with just two E8 games played.
GAVVVRIELLA RISMAN-JONES, RISMAN-JONES
Senior
Gavriella Risman-Jones is the Stevens and E8 leader so far this season with a.466 batting average. The veteran captain is also the conference leader in hits and runs.
SENIOR SALUTE
Stevens will honor Risman-Jones and senior
Brianna Sandone between games Saturday in its senior day festivities. The duo has contributed to nearly 80 wins and counting in their seasons playing together.
DRIVING 'EM IN
With three more RBIs Thursday, sophomore
Olivia Gemma extended the conference-leading RBI total to 23.

Corinne Loncar has only struck out once this season, the lowest total of any player in the E8.
