Softball Wraps Up Home Schedule With Two This Week

HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 19, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology softball team will host St. Joseph's College and Stockton University this week in its final two home doubleheaders of the season.

WEEK INFO
Stevens starts the week Wednesday against St. Joseph's as 4:30 p.m., followed by Thursday's doubleheader against Stockton at 3 p.m. 

LAST TIME OUT
Stevens went 2-2 last weekend with a pair of 5-1 wins over Nazareth College, and 3-0 and 4-2 losses to No. 20 St. John Fisher College. 

SCOUTING REPORT
At 17-11, St. Joseph's is led at the plate by Lindsey Corriss' 45 hits and .450 batting average, and in the circle by Mallory MCClafferty's 1.89 ERA in 63 innings. 

Stockton brings a 22-8 record in this week, and features three hitters who sport a batting average of over .400. Pitching-wise, Stockton has been led by Samantha Shockey who has a 1.74 ERA and 52 strike outs in 112.2 innings. 

FAMILIAR FOES
Stevens is 6-2 combined against Stockton and St. Joseph's over the last two seasons, including sweeps against both last season.

LEADING THE EMPIRE
Senior Gavriella Risman-Jones leads the Ducks and the Empire 8 Conference with a .471 batting average so far this spring, in a season that's included 41 hits and seven stolen bases. 

HOMER HAPPY
Sophomores Lauren Shirley and Olivia Gemma led the Ducks with four home runs each, and have accounted for 46 RBIs combined this season.

.300 CLUB    
Stevens' lineup features six hitters who are hitting over .300 this season, led at the top by Risman-Jones (.471), sophomore Corinne Loncar (.375), and Shirley (.371).

SEEING DOUBLES
Of freshman Madison Telles' nine hits this season, five have been doubles. 

FROM THE CIRCLE
Freshman Marissa Cappello lowered her ERA to 3.76 after tossing seven innings of three-run ball Sunday against Fisher. Senior Brianna Sandone is second on the team with a 3.82 ERA, while Gemma is second in strike outs with 23.
