Women’s Tennis Reloads For 2016

HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 2, 2016) – Off a second-straight appearance in the Empire 8 Conference Championship final, the Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team is seeking to continue its run of success in 2016.

SEASON REWIND
Stevens tallied an 8-3 mark last fall including a 5-4 win over Nazareth College in the E8 championship semifinal. The finals appearances was the sixth in the last seven seasons for the Ducks.

WELCOME BACK
Senior Alexis Connor enters her final season at Stevens off a 7-6 season at singles competing from the top spot. The veteran equaled that success with eight wins at doubles, culminating with a Second Team All-Conference nod. Senior Jillian Morneau also brings a wealth of experience to the team after 10 wins last season combined at singles and doubles.

Katrina Guido represents the Ducks top returning junior off a 15-16 season that saw her win nine times at both singles and doubles. The eastern-Pennsylvania native has been an all-conference performer in each of her first two seasons at Stevens, and will once again be called upon as one of the team's top performers.

The Ducks talented trio of sophomores Jill Hadwen, Victoria Piskarev and Sydney Zoretic are also all back in the fold after each received all-conference recognition in their rookie season. Hadwen led the team with 11 wins at doubles, teaming with Piskarev to go 10-3. Zoretic won nine times at doubles in addition to going 5-0 at fifth singles.

Transfer Julia Earl will join the three in the sophomore class.

NEW DUCKS
Stevens will welcome in freshmen Nicole Badalyan, Isabella Calandra, and Joilin Gomez, all of whom will compete for action at both singles and doubles.

THE SCHEDULE
The Ducks will play 11 matches this fall with three non-conference opponents in Drew University, Muhlenberg College and Stockton University. For a more detailed look at the slate, click here.
