Women’s Tennis Hosts Pivotal E8 Weekend

HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 30, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team will look to cement its spot near the top of the Empire 8 this weekend with matches against St. John Fisher and Hartwick.

WEEKEND INFO
Saturday's match with Fisher is scheduled for 11 a.m., with Sunday's match vs. Hartwick set for noon. Both matches are slated to take place on the Stevens Tennis Courts.

LAST TIME OUT
Stevens picked up its second shutout victory of the season Saturday with a 9-0 win over Utica.

SCOUTING REPORT
Fisher is off to a 4-3 start including a 3-3 mark in the E8, while Hartwick is 7-1 after a loss to Ithaca Wednesday afternoon.

HOMEGROWN
This weekend will conclude the matches in Hoboken for Stevens, a spot they've won four straight at. 

WHERE THEY STAND
Hartwick is tied with Stevens and Nazareth for second place in the E8, while Fisher's .500 mark places the Cardinals in fifth. 

IMMEDIATE IMPACT
Freshman Isabella Calandra has shined to this point in her collegiate career with a 5-1 singles record. The rookie has competed at third, fourth and fifth so far this fall.

Junior Katrina Guido/sophomore Sydney Zoretic, and sophomore Jill Hadwen/sophomoreJulia Earl have combined to go 10-1 at doubles this season. 

DOING IT WITH DOUBLES
Stevens has swept doubles four times this season, including the last three in-a-row.
