Polk wins twice to reach ITA Northeast Regional semifinals

Short Story: Senior Danny Polk earned two victories to reach the singles draw semifinals at the 2017 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regional Championships, hosted by Skidmore College.
Of note: The winners of both the singles and doubles draws will advance to the ITA Oracle Cup Championships, Oct. 11-15 at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College in Rome, Ga.

How It Happened

Polk, the fourth overall seed in the singles draw, began play with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Skidmore's Travis Leaf. Leaf was the 13th seed in the tournament.
Polk reached the semifinals with a hard-fought 6-0, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3 victory over RPI's Brian Niguidula.
In the doubles draw, Polk and classmate William Persson fell to the fifth-seeded team of Sebastian Castillo-Sanchez and Andre Imrie (RPI), 8-5.
Polk will meet Skidmore's Steven Koulouris in the semifinals. Koulouris is seeded second in the tournament.
Skidmore's J.T. Wynne (6th seed) takes on Hobart College's Alan Dubrovsky (3rd seed) on the other end of the bracket.
