HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 22, 2017)  – The Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team was unable to solve Drew University starter Ryan Fitzpatrick and three relievers, and fell to the Rangers, 10-0. at Dobbelaar Field Wednesday.
Sophomore
Carlos Leon reached base three times. but the Ducks committed six errors on the afternoon, leading to five unearned runs.
Catcher Mike Miraglia homered and had 3 RBI and center fielder Marc Cohen also drove in three for Drew, who won its season opener. Stevens fell to 1-2.
"Obviously a tough result today that we are looking forward to learning from and bouncing back from," head coach
Kristaps Aldins said. "A lot of guys got their "firsts" out of the way, which was positive [and] our first-year arms in the bullpen came out firing strikes and that is a very good sign for us."

Alex Dailey collected his first collegiate at-bat after appearing as a defensive replacement against Kean. Senior
Harrison Kaye also collected his first hit of 2017 as a pinch-hitter in the ninth.
Junior
Andrew Hamel (0-1) rebounded after allowing a pair of runs in the first and second innings. The lanky lefty struck out four over 3 2-3 innings in his first start of the season.
Given a four-run lead to work with, Fitzpatrick (1-0) kept the Stevens bats silent, scattering four hits over 5 2-3 innings, striking out three. Relievers Josh Williams, Jeff Serin, and Joe Dahut combined for a scoreless final 3 1-3 innings, allowing only two hits.
The Ducks nearly climbed back into the game in the middle innings, placing runners in scoring position in the third, fourth, and sixth innings, but were unable to push a runner home.Â

Bridger Cohen, and sophomore
Charlie Ruegger combined for three scoreless innings.
Up Next: Stevens heads to Wayne, New Jersey for a Friday afternoon game against William Paterson. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday but was moved a day earlier to avoid a potential rainout.
