Women’s Tennis sweeps Houghton for third straight win

Short Story: The sophomore tandem of Julia Earl and Isabella Calandra earned a hard-fought win at No. 1 doubles to propel the Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team to a sweep of Houghton College Saturday.

How It Happened

Junior Victoria Piskarev and sophomore Gabrielle Tantillo opened the match with an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles to open the match scoring.
Junior Sydney Zoretic and freshman Chelsea Braithwaite gave the Ducks a 2-0 lead with an 8-5 win a second doubles.
Earl and Calandra battled Houghton's top pairing of Tori Noller and Laura Jacuzzo, needing a tiebreaker to settle the match.
Armed with a commanding 3-0 lead, Earl defeated Noller (1 and 1) and Zoretic downed Katelyn Sylor to clinch the match.
Piskarev, Calandra, Braithwaite and freshman Makenna Sargis also earned wins in their respective singles flights to complete the sweep.
