Equestrian Takes Fifth at Marist Show

The Basics

The lead: Freshman Katie Sorber and senior Nadia Hoellrigl each earned first place finishes in Novice Fences and Novice Flat, respectively, to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology equestrian team to a fifth-place finish Sunday at the Marist Show to open the 2018-19 season.
Location: Crosswinds Equestrian Center - Lagrangeville, New York
Short Story: In her first collegiate event, Sorber finished first in the Novice Fences and took third in Novice Flat to help Stevens total 18 points. Hoellrigl earned first in the Novice Flat in the as the Ducks earned multiple victories in the Marist Show to kick off the 2018-19 season. Centenary University won the team event with 47 points to finish first among the nine competing schools.

Top Finishers

Senior Saarah Mohammedi took fifth in Open Fences and a reserve finish in Open Flat.
Sophomore Madeline Hutchinson took a reserve finish in the Walk-Trot event.
Freshman Natasha Collett earned second in Walk-Trot Center to round out the Stevens competitors. It was the Wall, New Jersey native's first collegiate event.
