Equestrian’s Hutchison Places 10th at IHSA Zones

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. (April 9, 2019)  – Stevens Institute of Technology sophomore Madeline Hutchison finished 10th in walk-trot at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Zone 3 Finals, held at the Keystone Horse Center. Only the top two riders in each division advanced to the national show.

Hutchinson reached the Zone Finals after a first-place finish at the IHSA Regional Show at the Centenary University Equestrian Center. Following her successful season, the Doylestown, Pennsylvania native will be moving up to Beginner Walk-Trot Canter, which will be contested under a new event name next season.

"I am proud of Maddie for reaching the zone finals, [as] it is a very difficult thing to do," said team captain Nadia Hoellrigl. "Our region has been called the most competitive in the nation by the IHSA founder, Bob Cacchione."

"I am excited to see Maddie move to a new division," Hoellrigl continued. "I hope to hear about more success in her future."

Hoellrigl joined Hutchison in competing at the regional show, placing ninth in Novice Flat.

Zone 3 is comprised of five different regions and totals 50 active schools encompassing five states.
