Men's Fencing Falls at Columbia Duals

NEW YORK, N.Y. (November 16, 2018) — Freshmen Wolfe Crouse and Andy Faubert each fenced to a 5-1 finish as the Stevens Institute of Technology men's fencing team fell to two top tier programs at the Columbia Duals in New York City Friday evening.

Johns Hopkins University topped the Ducks in epee (4-5), foil (2-7) and sabre (4-5), to earn their first victory of the season. 

Stevens topped Columbia in epee 8-1 before the Lions came back to win in foil and sabre with scores of 2-7 and 1-8, respectively. Columbia improved to 2-0 on the year while the Ducks fell to 8-2. 

Top Finishers
  • Freshman Logan Rechler finished 4-2 on the day in foil. 
  • At sabre, freshman Vaughn Rice fenced to a 3-3 finish.

  • Stevens will compete in the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Association (MACFA) Group A vs. Group B tournament in Easton, Pennsylvania on Sunday, Nov. 18.
