Hoboken, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's fencing team won three of four bouts at the MACFA Group B Round Robin on Sunday afternoon.
The Ducks topped Hunter College (24-3), Army (24-3), and Yeshiva University (23-4), but fell to NJIT (19-8).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Stevens went a perfect 9-0 at sabre against Hunter, as
Spencer Depew and
Ruilin Liu each went 3-0.
Tyler Kometani added two victories before
Gabriel Morales closed out the sweep. The sabre unit surrendered just seven touches across nine bouts. The Ducks also posted an 8-1 mark at epee, led by a 3-0 performance from
Patrick Nohilly.
Andrew Yurovchak and
Esat Adiloglu each went 2-0, while
Skanda Krishnan and
Donovan Aggeler added one victory apiece. Stevens rounded out the win with a 7-2 record at foil, as
Dev Badlani and
Rishi Kandagadla went 2-0.
Ricardo Pires,
Nick Reznick, and
Aden Vishnevsky each recorded a win.
In the victory over Army, the Ducks went a perfect 9-0 at both epee and foil.
Riley Parker,
Noah Tumibay, and
Kieran Jackson each posted 3-0 records at epee, while Vishnevsky went 3-0 at foil.
Owen McEntee and Kandagadla notched two wins apiece in foil, with Reznick and Pires adding one each. The sabre squad went 6-3, highlighted by a 3-0 mark from Liu and single victories from Depew, Kometani, and Morales.
Stevens capped off its wins against Yeshiva by going 9-0 at foil, 8-1 at epee, and 6-3 at sabre.
Graham Shambarger and McEntee each went 3-0 at foil, while
Alan Hu posted a 2-0 record and Vishnevsky added the final win. At epee, Nohilly and Jackson went 3-0, with Adiloglu contributing two victories. The Maccabees claimed three bouts at sabre, but Haritones (3-0) and Kometani (2-1) combined for five of Stevens' six wins, with Morales accounting for the final tally. In the setback against NJIT, the Ducks received two sabre wins from Depew, two epee victories from Pires, and single wins from Aggeler, Krishnan, Liu, and Reznick.

The Ducks head to Annapolis, Maryland, on Saturday to compete in the MACFA Group C Tournament, hosted by the United States Naval Academy.
