Short Story: The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles play before dropping a hard-fought 5-4 decision to Ithaca College on Monday at the United States Tennis Association National Campus in Orlando, Florida.

How It Happened

After Ithaca came out ahead at second doubles to open the scoring, the sophomore pairing of Julia Earl and Isabella Calandra evened the score with a 9-8 (7-5) victory at first doubles.
Junior Victoria Piskarev and freshman Makenna Sargis gave the Ducks the edge after doubles play with an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
Ithaca claimed the first two wins of singles play with identical 6-1, 6-1 wins at first and second singles to take a 3-2 lead in the match.
Sophomore Joilin Gomez tied the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win at sixth singles.
Ithaca earned wins at third and fifth singles to win the match.
Sargis rallied to win a 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 decision at fourth singles to close out the match.
