The Basics
  • The lead: Spurred by a new six-kilometer personal-best, sophomore Trinity Lundemo was the top finisher for the Stevens Institute of Technology women's cross country Saturday at the 46th Paul Short Run, presented by Asics and hosted by Lehigh University.
  • Location: Goodman Campus Cross Country Course - Galloway, Pennsylvania
  • Short Story: Using a 6:306.2 mile pace, Lundemo completed the six-kilometer course in a personal-best time of 24:15.5 to lead Stevens' nine-runner contingent as the Ducks took part in the event's Open Race. Lundemo finished 175th out of 424 runners in the annual run that honors Lehigh's former Business Manager of Athletics and cross country enthusiast, Paul Short. The event features over 6,000 student-athletes from 450 colleges and high schools. The open division features runners from all three NCAA divisions and unattached runners. In total 14 races were held throughout the day.
  • Of note: There was not a team score compiled in the open race. Unattached runner Cara Sherman topped the field with a time of 20:32.5. Georgetown University's Maegan Doody was the top collegiate finisher, placing fourth with a time of 21:00.6.T

Top Finishers
  • Stevens' top-five finishers were spread by 1:05.7 seconds and the top seven were separated by 2:02.6 in the second six-kilometer race of the season.
  • Joining Lundemo in setting a new six-kilometer personal-best was junior Kristin McAtee, freshman Rachel Pinho and sophomores Caroline Corr and Elizabeth LaParch.
  • McAtee was the second Duck to reach the finish, completed the course in 24:20.6. Pinho finished right behind McAtee, finishing in 24:27.4 in her second collegiate 6K.
  • Sophomore Erin Miceli used a 6:39.4 mile pace to complete the course in 24:98.8. Senior Claire Tantillo rounded out Stevens' top-five with a time of 25:21.2
  • Corr used a 6:51.3 mile pace to set a new PR of 25:34.3.
  • Sophomore Corrine Rybarski rounded out the top-seven with a time of 26:18.1 to set a season best.
  • Graduate student Paige Metzheiser (27:06.8) and sophomore Elizabeth LaParch (27:11.2) rounded out Stevens' contingent.

Harden's Thoughts
  • "It was an honor and a thrill to compete at one of the largest, and finest, cross country meets in the world. We could not have had more ideal conditions in terms of temperature, firm footing and great competition. Our team competed in the first race of the day, the Open race, which featured post-collegians and student-athletes from all three NCAA divisions."
  • "Our lead pack of Trinity, Kristin, and Rachel, worked together for the entirety of the race, with Kristin and Rachel pulling away in the third mile, and then Trinity flew down the long hill starting around the three-mile mark and finished very strongly. All three of them established new 6K personal bests. Erin Miceli was either with them or in the group just behind them, and she did a fantastic job with even pacing."
  • "As our front group continues to grow in numbers and quality, our team will improve. Caroline Corr raced in tandem with Claire Tantillo, and Claire's expertise helped pave the way for Caroline to have a career day. Likewise, Liz LaParch dropped almost a minute off of her 6K personal best."

Up Next
  • After a two-week layoff, women's cross country returns to the course on Saturday, Oct. 19 for the Suffolk Invitational in Boston, Massachusetts, hosted by Suffolk University.
