The Basics

  • Location: Ronald C. Hoffmann Cross Country Course - Canton, New York, hosted by St. Lawrence University
  • Short Story: Using a 6:28 mile pace, Lundemo completed the six-kilometer course in 24:03.9 to lead Stevens' seven-runner contingent. It was the second-fastest six-kilometer time of her career. She completed the final 2.1 kilometers in 8:13.8 to move up 20 places down the stretch after hitting the 3.9-kilometer check-in in 79th place with a time of 15:50.1.
  • The finishes: Ithaca College's Parley Hannan used a 5:39 mile to win the Region Championship in a time of 21:01.2. SUNY Geneseo had two runners place among the top-seven and all five scoring runners finished in the top-26 to claim the region's team title. As a team, the Ducks placed 16th out of the 38 competing teams.

  • Junior Kristin McAtee was the second Duck to reach the finish, completing the course in 24:53.4 to place 99th. She passed three runners on the final leg of the course to finish inside of the top-100.
  • Freshman Rachel Pinho was the third scoring runner, finishing 103rd with a time of 24:56.7. The first-year runner posted the fastest first 955-meters on the team, hitting the mark in 3:49 flat.
  • Sophomore Erin Micelli was the fourth Duck to hit the finish, completing the course in 25:03 to place 107th. The Guilderland, New York native passed runners over the course of all four checkpoints, including three over the final 2.1 meters.

Harden's Thoughts
  • "St. Lawrence got just under a foot of snow earlier in the week, so their grounds crew worked around the clock to clear the course. They had a challenging job, especially given that the snow melted on Friday afternoon and then refroze overnight with temperatures around seven degrees. Ultimately, the course was pretty clear with sections of frozen footprints, mud, ice, and snow. There were a couple dicey spots, but it was a fair course and we would like to thank the St. Lawrence staff for their work that enabled us to have a true cross country race."
  • "During the race, temperatures were around 18 degrees, but it was sunny with no wind.  The prior men's race chewed up the course a fair amount and turned the conditions from primarily icy to muddy"
  • "Overall, we are pleased with the performance today. Every one of our women who raced last year improved significantly in terms of place this year and all seven women had solid races. We nearly halved our team placing, going from 29th  last fall to 16th today."
  • "Trinity Lundemo had a breakout race, pushing from the gun, continuing to move up through the middle, and then finishing powerfully over the final mile with her outstanding kick. Her relentlessness led to an improvement of 131 places from last year, and she passed 20 runners in the final 2.1K of the race today. Kristin McAtee showed that she can perform well in adverse weather and terrain, earning a spot in the top 100 and improving over 68 places and a minute from last year. Rachel Pinho has been super consistent for us all year and she handled the challenging conditions like a pro. Erin Miceli has been gradually gaining form throughout the season, and it was great to see her finish 31 places higher than last year after all that she's been through. Corrine Rybarski had the best race of her career, improving 53 places from last year. She surprised Caroline and Claire around 1.5 miles into the race by catching up to them and then the three of them were able to work together for the first time all season. Claire, in the final race of her great career, mustered her usual ferocious kick to score once again as our #5; we'd like to thank her for all of her contributions over the last four years!"
