Prizer Named First Full-Time Assistant Softball Coach in Program History

HOBOKEN, N.J. (July 26, 2019)  – Stevens Institute of Technology head softball coach Emily Kaczmarek has announced the hiring of Katie Prizer as the program's first full-time assistant coach. Prizer was most recently a graduate assistant coach at Clarkson University.

"I am thrilled to add Katie to our coaching staff," Kaczmarek said. "As the program's first full-time assistant coach, Katie will make an immediate impact with her obvious passion for the game, high softball IQ, and her ability to connect with student-athletes. This expansion to our coaching staff is incredible and I am excited for the enhancement to our student-athletes' experience."

Prizer spent two seasons with the Golden Knights and played a key role in the development of three National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Northeast Region players: Summer Lancette, Raeanna Dixon and Michelle Winn. During Prizer's time in Potsdam, New York, four players received All-Liberty League recognition and current rising sophomore Olivia Zoeller was tabbed the league's co-Rookie of the Year in 2019. Additionally, the Clarkson softball program set a record for victories in a single season (28) in 2018. The Lake Saint Louis, Missouri native was also charged with preparing offensive and defensive game plans, developing off-season strength and conditioning programs, and creating scouting reports, which included personnel profiles and tendencies. Prizer also served a four-month stint as interim head coach.

"I am very thankful to be able to continue my coaching career at Stevens," Prizer said. "I am excited to share my ideas and skill set, but even more excited to join an institution that can help mold me into the future coach I aspire to be."

Prior to entering the coaching ranks at Clarkson, Prizer played two seasons at Illinois College, totaling 77 hits for the Lady Blues, with a pair of homers and 39 RBIs over 72 games. During her senior season, Prizer ranked second on the team in hitting (.323) and third in RBIs (17) and finished with a .979 fielding percentage. Prior to her time in Jacksonville, Prizer was a two-sport athlete at Southeastern Illinois College, playing both basketball and softball for two seasons.

Prizer graduated from Illinois College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and earned her Master of Business Administration degree from Clarkson.
