Lundemo Leads Women’s Cross Country to Sixth at NJAIAW Championship/Osprey Open

The Basics

The lead: Sophomore Trinity Lundemo finished fifth out of 210 runners to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology women's cross country team to a sixth-place finish Saturday at the New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women Championships, hosted by Stockton University. The event was co-branded with the Osprey Open.
Location: Cross Country Course - Galloway, New Jersey
Short Story: Using a 6:36.2 mile pace, Lundemo completed the six-kilometer course in a time of 24:36.81 to lead Stevens' seven-runner contingent, matching her top finish of the season. Her mark was four-tenths-of-a-second off her six-kilometer personal-best. Ramapo's Jennifer Polo won the event, completing the course in 23:40.89. The Roadrunners also earned the team trophy, totaling a score of 67 points.

Top Finishers

Stevens' top-five finishers were spread by 1:52.73 seconds and the top seven were separated by 4:50.64 in the first six-kilometer race of the season.
Freshman Rachel Pinho used a 6:43.6 mile pace to complete the course in 25:04.63 to finish 13th. She joined Lundemo in earning a top-15 medal.
Sophomore Erin Miceli finished third for the Ducks, reaching the line in 25:32.95 to finish 20th as Stevens collected three top-20 finishes.
Senior Claire Tantillo finished fourth for Stevens for the second straight event, reaching the finish in 26:08.42.
Sophomore Caroline Corr hit the line in 26:29.54 to finish 51st as the final scoring Duck.
Junior Corrine Rybarski (27:31.24) and sophomore Elizabeth LaParch (29:27.45) rounded out the top-seven.

After a two-week layoff, women's cross country returns to the course on Saturday, Oct. 5 for the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University.
