HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 9, 2020) – The lone home meet of the year for the Stevens Institute of Technology men's fencing program ended in style Sunday as the Ducks set a new program record for wins in a single season with 32 after going a perfect 4-0 in the MACFA Group "B" Round Robin inside Canavan Arena.
The Ducks defeated Hunter College 22-5, New Jersey Institute of Technology 15-12, Army-West Point 19-8 and Yeshiva University 22-5 to break the previous school record for wins of 31 set in the 2018-19 season.
The victory over NJIT, who received voted in latest CollegeFencing360.com top-10 poll, was the closest of the day as Stevens grabbed a pair of 5-4 wins at foil and sabre to take an 10-8 edge. Then, leading 13-12 with just two epee bouts to go, sophomore
Wolfe Crouse earned a thrilling victory in extra time to help the Ducks exact some revenge on the Highlanders who handed the Ducks their first loss of the season earlier this year.
The foil squad led the way for the Ducks as they posted a 29-7 record while sabre finished 28-8 and epee went 21-15. Overall, Stevens won 11 of the 12 total weapon bouts on the day and outscored its opponents 79-29.
All 27 Stevens fencers who competed in the event earned at least one victory led by
Juan Amezquita who finished 8-1 at sabre.
The Ducks, who were the second-highest ranked NCAA Division III team in the latest CollegeFencing360 poll, are now 32-3 on the season with two of their three losses coming at the hands of teams ranked inside the top-16.
Stevens is now a perfect 10-0 in MACFA competition this season after going 6-0 against Group "A" in November.

Justin Yu for their careers with the Ducks. The five seniors combined to go 18-4 on the day.
Vs. Hunter (Win 22-5)
Vs. NJIT (Win 15-12)
- The biggest match of the day saw the Ducks grab three separate 5-4 victories at each weapon to give Stevens its second win over a ranked team this season after knocking off Brown University earlier this year.
- Epee's 5-4 victory was highlighted by two wins each by Crouse and Faubert as well as one more by freshman Patrick Pan.
- At foil it was Beja and Ehrlich who each had two victories and Rechler produced another for a 5-4 win.
- The Amezquita brothers combined for three wins and Rice added two more as the sabre squad won 5-4 as well.
Vs. Army (Win 19-8)
- Tyler Else produced a pair of wins and Andrew Bauman, Blakeslee, Jack Corridon, Tom Gana and James Morris all had one each for a 7-2 win at epee.
- Freda and Gray continued their solid senior days as they combined to go 4-0 to help the foil squad finish with a 7-2 win after Grzeda, Ryan McLaughlin and Yu produced one apiece.
- As sabre, Woodward produced a 2-0 record while Juan Amezquita, Sang and Wu registered one each for a 5-4 win.
Vs. Yeshiva (Win 22-5)
- Bauman, Blakeslee, Gana and Gabe Toltus all had one win in a narrow 5-4 defeat at epee against the Maccabees.
- Stevens earned a 9-0 sweep at foil thanks to two wins each by Freda, Gray, McLaughlin and Yu and one more from Ean Weiss.
- Sabre also picked up a 9-0 sweep after Juan Amezquita went 3-0, Woodward and Wu finished 2-0 and Matthew Jacobson and Chris Kurtz produced one win each.

- The Ducks will look to remain undefeated in MACFA play as they compete against Group "C" Sunday, Feb. 16 starting at 10:00 a.m. in Newark, N.J.
- Stevens will take on William & Mary University, Maryland University, Johns Hopkins University, Haverford College and the United States Naval Academy in the meet.
