LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 12, 2021) – Senior
Ryan Gebhardt and graduate student
Daniel Crotty of No. 19 Stevens Institute of Technology men's lacrosse were named to the Dynamic Division III Team of the Week, the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) announced Wednesday.
The national recognition is Gebhardt's third this season and the fourth of his career. Crotty's accolade is his first of the season and the second of his career.
"Really proud of both Dan and Ryan for being named to the USILA Team of the Week," said head coach
Gene Peluso. "Ryan has put together a season that has been so impressive and has broken many records. He clearly is in a league of his own when it comes to the top offensive players both in our conference and in the country."
"Dan also has had a great season and a great career and when things get competitive, Dan steps up and has done that throughout his career here at Castle Point," Peluso continued. "He is a great defender and an aggressive player, but his ball skills and his ability to get the ball to our offense are equally impressive. I am proud of both of these student-athletes and they are certainly valuable to our team on their respective ends of the field."
Gebhardt totaled 11 goals with four assists during the review period as the Ducks defeated both DeSales University and Misericordia University to capture Stevens' first MAC Freedom title. The Baldwinsville, New York native also caused three turnovers and picked up three ground balls. Additionally, Gebhardt's six-goal performance in the conference championship brought his season total to 65, setting a new single-season program record; the second career mark Gebhardt has broken this season.
Crotty caused five turnovers and picked up five ground balls in helping the Ducks earn two victories. Crotty registered the 100th turnover of his career in the victory over Misericordia, while also netting the third goal of his career.
Up Next: Stevens will take on Catholic University on May 15 in the opening round of the 2021 Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship. The contest will be hosted by the University of Lynchburg.
