GREENWOOD, Ind. (May 7, 2021)  – Graduate student Spencer Cook of the Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team was named to the Academic All-District Team Thursday, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Already the first multiple-time Academic All-District selection in program history. Cook now joins a select group of student-athletes in department history as the ninth Duck to earn three Academic All-District accolades.

"Spencer has put so much work in on the court and in the classroom and I'm excited he's being recognized for both," said head coach Bobby Hurley. "He is so deserving of this recognition as he embodies the true student-athlete and I couldn't be more proud of his accomplishments."

Over the course of his career on Castle Point, Cook scored 1,316 points over 76 games to finish seventh in program history. The 2019-20 NCAA Division III 3-point shooting champion, Cook finished his distinguished career 169 for 363 from behind the arc and his 46.6% career 3-point shooting percentage is the top mark in program history. Cook also ranks among the career leaders in points per game, free throws made, free throw percentage and 3-point field goals for a program that dates all the way back to 1916.

A finalist for the prestigious Jostens Trophy in 2020, Cook has collected an impressive resume of accomplishments during his time on Castle Point. The 2017 Empire 8 Conference Rookie of the Year and the 2020 MAC Freedom Player of the Year, Cook totaled three All-Region selections and a pair of All-Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association honors while representing Stevens on the hardwood. A two-time First Team All-Conference selection, perhaps Cook's most noteworthy achievement was his 2020 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-America selection, the first in program history.

In the classroom, Cook has earned an impressive 3.84 cumulative grade-point average to date and is set to complete his MBA with Finance and Data Analytics concentrations in May. Cook was recognized by CoSIDA as a Third Team Academic All-America in 2020.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Academic All-America ballot, the results of which will be announced in the coming weeks. Stevens is located in Division III's Second District, which encompasses schools from Connecticut, Washington, D.C., Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Rhode Island and West Virginia. None of Division III's eight geographic districts contain a Second Team.
