Oneonta, N.Y. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's swim team tallied wins over Hartwick College and the University of Scranton on Saturday.
The Ducks (2-2) toppled Hartwick 193-87 and edged Scranton 149-135.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Stevens opened the tri-meet with a victory as
Deo Bove,
Angel Velasquez,
Edward Platonov, and
Will Stibor took first in the 200-medley relay. The foursome clocked in at 1:37.73, winning by nearly two seconds. Platonov (1:47.95) and Stibor (1:50.11) registered the top two times in the 200 free, with
Ryan Ward (55.77) and
Jack Martinek (56.32) notching first and second in the 100-back.
Velasquez (1:00.03) took second in the 100-breast to lead three consecutive Ducks, as
Cade Cermak (1:01.04) and
James Johnson (1:02.3) were third and fourth, respectively.
Joe Sparshott was second in the 200-fly in 2:03.51, as Leo Timmerman turned in a first-place time of 22.16 in the 50-free. Stibor (48.87) and Cermak (49.25) took the top two spots in the 100-freestyle.
Ethan Emerton (1:59.62) won the 200-back, as Bove came in second in 2:04.99.
Lukas Mikulenas took third in the 200-breast (2:18.85), with Bove (52.25) and Platonov (52.32) going 1-2 in the 100-fly. Velasquez was second in the 200-IM (2:04.61) before the team closed out the meet with a win in the 400-freestyle relay. The quartet of Platonov,
Andy Kolecki, Cermak, and Stibor clocked in at 3:16.01 to cap off the day.
