Men's Fencing Goes 5-1 At Drew Invitational

Madison, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's fencing team went 5-1 on Sunday at the Drew Invitational.

Stevens topped Haverford College (14-13), Drew University (18-9), NJIT (14-13), Wheaton College (20-7), and Lafayette (17-10) while falling 17-10 to Wagner College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The sabre group went an impressive 37-17, led by a 14-4 day from John Morreale. Morreale was 3-0 against Wheaton, Lafayette, and Drew while adding a pair of victories against Haverford and Wagner. Colin Mahoney went 12-3 during the day, recording a perfect 3-0 mark against Haverford, Drew, and Lafayette. Chinli Ong went 9-9, including three wins against the Fords and victories against the Rangers and Wheaton.

Epee collected 29 victories, led by 10 each from Noah Tumibay and Riley Parker. Those two and Andrew Yurovchak each went 3-0 against Wheaton, as Tumibay was perfect against Drew. The trio posted identical 2-1 marks in a 6-3 victory over Lafayette as Parker and Yurovchak went 2-1 against their in-state rival NJIT.

Nicholas Reznick led the foil group with 10 wins, including three against Drew and two against Wagner, NJIT, and Lafayette. Rocco Matthews tallied two victories against Drew, as David Trubetski joined Reznick with two wins against NJIT.
