Madison, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's fencing team posted a 2-2 record at the MACFA Group "A" vs. Group "B" Tournament on Sunday.
Stevens topped Lafayette (17-10) and Rutgers (19-8) while falling to Cornell (14-13) and Drew (14-13). The Ducks' foil squad posted a 20-28 mark with a +31 advantage in touches, while epee went 18-27 and sabre 12-27.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Ducks went 8-1 at foil in the win over Lafayette, highlighted by 3-0 performances from
Liam Thomas and
Ricardo Pires.
Rishi Kandagadla and
Dillon Miller each went 1-1, while sabre earned a pair of wins from
Spencer Depew.
Ruilin Liu and
Chinli Ong added one win apiece, and the epee duo of
Andrew Yurovchak and
Donovan Aggeler each went 2-1.
Skanda Krishnan capped off the scoring with a 1-2 performance at epee.
Stevens dominated epee against Rutgers, boasting a 9-0 mark.
Riley Parker,
Yuval Fussman, and
Kieran Jackson all went a perfect 3-0. Liu and
Gabriel Morales each went 2-1 at sabre, with
Sean Haritonides adding another win, before Thomas, Miller, and
Nick Reznick each contributed a win at foil.
Against Cornell,
Dev Badlani was a perfect 3-0 at foil, with Miller adding two victories. Yurovchak went 2-1 at epee, while Aggeler and Krishnan each added one win. Depew recorded two wins at sabre, and Ong and
David Trubetski also tallied victories. In the narrow setback to Drew, the trio of Badlani, Reznick, and Miller each went 2-1 at foil. Depew was a perfect 3-0 at sabre, with Liu and Ong adding one win apiece, before Yurovchak and Krishnan tacked on wins at epee.
