ANNVILLE, Pa. – Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer graduate students
Elsa Bley and
Nicole Angelini joined men's soccer senior
Terry Thompson and junior
Ethan Hagen on their respective sport's Academic All-Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) teams, as announced by the league office Friday morning.
The award honors 11 student-athletes in both sports from programs in both the MAC Freedom and the MAC Commonwealth. A student-athlete must have a fall semester grade-point average (GPA) of 3.20 or higher to be eligible for the award and nominated student-athletes are voted on by the athletic communications offices from the conference's 16 member institutions.
Bley, an All-MAC Freedom First Team and Academic All-MAC selection in 2023, repeated both feats this year, notching four goals and four assists in while contributing to a Ducks' defensive effort that allowed 0.63 goals per match during the season, including 11 clean sheets in 19 matches; she also finished second on the team logging 1,459 minutes.
Angelini, a fellow All-MAC Freedom First Team honoree made a significant offensive impact in her first season as a Duck. She finished tied for third on the team with seven goals (including one in four straight games), capping the regular season with a brace against King's (Pa.).
Thompson's 2024 campaign earned him All-MAC Freedom First Team honors and United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-Region Second Team recognition, in addition to his Academic all-conference honor. He logged the second-most minutes of any field player for the Ducks (trailing only Hagen), and his backline efforts helped Stevens post three clean sheets in conference action, allowing just four goals total. The defender contributed four goals and an assist on the year, including a 52
nd-minute header in the MAC Freedom Championship Game, which held up as the conference title-winning goal. He also scored a 90
th-minute equalizer in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament, helping the Red and Gray force overtime against eventual National Champion Amherst.
Hagen started all but one of Stevens' 20 contests and
was named to the All-Region First Team and All-MAC Freedom Second Team. He collected a pair of assists while teaming with Thompson on the backline, limiting opponents to fewer than seven shots per game during the regular season/MAC Freedom Tournament. Hagen registered an assist in the Ducks' 2-1 win over FDU-Florham before posting a helper on Omar Martinez's goal in the 80th minute in the Ducks' 3-1 MAC Freedom Semifinal victory over Lebanon Valley.
