Women's Fencing Clips NJIT, 14-13

Hoboken, NJ – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's fencing team edged NJIT 14-13 to secure a Senior Day victory on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Stevens went 6-3 at sabre against the Highlanders, led by three victories by Sasha Craine. Ashlyn Leung went 2-1 in the victory, as Alyssa Ip completed the wins from the epee weapon group. The Highlanders responded with a 7-2 win at foil, as Sofia Savchuk and Elizabeth MacDonald picked up the Duck triumphs.

Entering the epee group, Stevens was trailing 9-8. Grace Hicks led the way, as Stevens racked up six wins over the nine bouts to claim the overall win. Hicks tallied three victories, with Eren Kokes posting a 2-1 mark. Renny Victoria took home the last win on her Senior Day, giving Stevens the one-point victory.

The Ducks head to Drew University next Sunday to compete at the EWFC Championships beginning at 9 am.
