Kaitlyn Adams re-broke her own school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, and
Ashley Muliawan recorded a personal best in the discus to highlight five competitors for the Stevens Institute of Technology women's track & field team at the AARTFC Outdoor Regional Championships.
The Ducks collected three points and sit in a tie for 16th place after the opening day. Hamilton leads the standings with 27 points, followed closely by Rochester with 25.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Adams, who set the previous school mark of 11:36.25 in the steeplechase at the Paul Donahue Invitational in April, took 16th place today. Her time of 11:35.01 established a new program standard and edged her nearest competitor by 0.68 seconds. Muliawan threw a personal-best 40.07 meters in the discus, surpassing the 40-meter mark for the first time in her career. Her mark was 0.05 meters ahead of the seventh-place finisher.
Distance runner
Fionna Feerick also achieved a personal best in the 10,000 meters, placing 11th with a time of 39:13.95, breaking the 40-minute barrier for the first time. In the field events,
Alexis Merola finished 14th in the pole vault by clearing 3.29 meters, while
Isabella Shanley placed 19th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.71 seconds.
