Men's Tennis Picks Up Five Academic All-MAC Selections

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Stevens Institute of Technology rising senior Max-William Kanz, rising sophomores Aidan Miller and Dhaivik Chenemilla, as well as alumni Vivek Harinarayan and Olof Persson were named Academic All-MAC by the Middle Atlantic Conference office Friday, following spectacular seasons for all, on and off the court.

The Academic All-MAC teams are based off semester grade-point averages (GPA) for the semester of their championship season. The minimum GPA required is a 3.20, and the student-athlete must remain an eligible member of the team through the conclusion of the season. Voting for this award is based on 50% academic excellence and 50% athletic prowess.

Kanz, already a two-time All-MAC Freedom selection entering the season, had arguably his best season thus far as a Duck, earning First Team All-Conference recognition and conference Player of the Year honors, then earning MAC Freedom Tournament MVP recognition. Kanz finished the Spring 14-2 in singles, including five straight-set wins in conference play.

Another All-MAC Freedom First Team selection, as well as the conference's Rookie of the Year, Miller finished the Spring 17-3 in singles and 9-2 in doubles. His singles prowess was capped with wins in 12 of his final 13 matches, including straight-set victories in all six of his regular season conference matches.

Chenemilla joined Kanz and Miller on the All-MAC Freedom First Team following a Spring season in which he went 11-6 in singles and 6-1 in doubles action. He won all six of his regular season conference doubles matches, and earned a straight-set singles win in the MAC Freedom Semifinal against FDU-Florham.

The fourth and final Duck named First Team All-Conference, Persson was a perfect 6-0 in both MAC Freedom singles AND doubles competition during the regular season. All six of his conference singles victories came in straight sets, and two ended 6-0, 6-0.

Harinarayan, a three-time All-MAC Freedom selection, former conference Rookie of the Year and conference Player of the Year, picked up three postseason doubles wins this Spring: in the MAC Freedom Semifinal against FDU-Florham, the MAC Freedom Championship against Lebanon Valley, and against Babson in the NCAA Tournament.
