MAC Freedom Announces DIIICA Student-Athlete of the Year Nominations

Harinarayan, Creamer Earn MAC Freedom Recognition

Hoboken, N.J. – The Middle Atlantic Conference announced its Division III Commissioner's Association (DIIICA) Student-Athlete of the Year nominations earlier today, and Stevens Institute of Technology had two student-athletes selected as MAC Freedom nominees.

Vivek Harinarayan (men's tennis) and Bryan Creamer (men's lacrosse) were named the male MAC Freedom nominees. Selection criteria for the award included academic achievement, athletic excellence, leadership and service, and a personal statement submitted by each nominee. Only graduating seniors were eligible for nomination. The DIIICA Student-Athlete of the Year Award honors student-athletes who have exhausted their athletic eligibility—either graduating seniors or graduate students not previously nominated—and who exemplify excellence both in the classroom and in athletic competition, while also serving their communities.

Creamer was a key contributor to three MAC Freedom Championship teams at Stevens and helped lead the Ducks to the No. 1 seed in the 2024 MAC Freedom Men's Lacrosse Championship. He earned All-MAC Freedom honors in both 2023 and 2024 and was named MAC Freedom Specialist of the Year in both seasons. His standout play also earned him USILA All-America recognition—first as an Honorable Mention, and then as a Second Team selection. Creamer excelled academically, graduating with a 3.94 GPA while earning a degree in Business and Technology. His commitment to academic and athletic success earned him 2024 CSC Academic All-District and Academic All-America honors.

Harinarayan has been one of the MAC Freedom's top men's tennis players since his arrival on Castle Point in 2022. A three-time conference champion, he earned major awards in two of his three seasons: MAC Freedom Rookie of the Year in 2022 and MAC Freedom Player of the Year in 2024. He is set to complete his degree in biology this May and holds a 3.67 GPA. Harinarayan was named to the Academic All-MAC Team and was also recognized as a CSC Academic All-District honoree and an ITA Scholar-Athlete.

Each conference may submit up to two nominations per gender, provided that at least one nominee is an international student or a member of an ethnic minority. The MAC Freedom nominees are placed in Region IV, while MAC Commonwealth nominees are placed in Region V. Regional winners will be announced the week of August 21, with those selections moving forward to be considered for the DIIICA National Men's and Women's Student-Athlete of the Year Awards, which will be announced on September 4.
