Women's Tennis Competes at ITA Regionals

Fredericksburg, Va. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team returned to action Saturday at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships, hosted by the University of Mary Washington.

The Ducks had three student-athletes competing on the day, as inclement weather forced play indoors across six courts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The duo of Stephanie Untermeyer and Lorena Piegas represented Stevens in doubles play. The pair jumped out to a 2-0 lead over Salisbury's Cleopatra Solomon and Gibelle Beaujon before the Sea Gulls responded with five straight games. Untermeyer and Piegas battled back to level the score at 5-all, but Solomon and Beaujon closed out the match with the final two games to win 7-5.
In singles action, Alix Dry squared off with Mary Washington's Natalie Kim, who entered the tournament ranked No. 9 in the flight. Dry fought throughout but ultimately fell by an 8-2 scoreline.

UP NEXT
The Ducks open their home slate on October 11, welcoming Moravian University to the Bayonne Tennis Courts. First serve is set for noon.
