Hoboken, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's swim team closed out their home slate with a 153-65 victory over Drew University on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Ducks set the tone immediately, winning the 200 medley relay to open the meet. The Stevens A relay of
Delaney Klaus,
Adriana Bertolotti,
Natalia Brunetti, and
Gabby Sokolik touched first in 1:50.86, while the B relay followed in second at 1:55.17. Stevens also placed a C relay in the event, showcasing early depth. Stevens dominated the distance events, beginning with a sweep of the top three spots in the 1650 freestyle.
Dora Dvorkin won the event in 18:26.01, followed by
Abigail Rosingana (18:50.55) and
Emery Fitzharris (19:47.73).
The Ducks continued to pile up points in the 200 freestyle, with Sokolik earning the win in 2:00.61.
Samantha Gallo placed second in 2:03.13, while
Megan Koek added a fourth-place finish at 2:06.39. Klaus delivered one of her standout performances of the day in the 100 backstroke, winning the event in 58.31.
Paige Bleckley followed closely in third (1:04.01), with
Rachel Merrifield finishing fifth at 1:05.23.
Breaststroke was another strength for Stevens, as
Eszter Kiss captured the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.63.
Ashley Settle placed second in 1:11.32, and Allie Halverson finished fifth with a 1:19.06. Later in the meet, Dvorkin added another victory by winning the 200 breaststroke in 2:35.60, with Bertolotti placing third (2:37.48) and Halverson fourth (2:48.43). In the 200 butterfly,
Hanna Matheson took first in 2:11.12, followed by
Gabby Tyer in second at 2:18.96.
Anjali Gupta rounded out the event for Stevens with a third-place finish.
Stevens sprinted to strong results in the freestyle events, led by Bertolotti's victory in the 50 free (25.64) and Bleckley's runner-up finish in the 100 free (57.60). Koek placed third in the 100 free at 57.93, while
Hailey Gillett added a fifth-place finish. Brunetti added another win in the 200 backstroke, touching first in 2:16.07.
Sydney Lanager and Merrifield followed in fourth and fifth, respectively, to give Stevens three of the top five spots.
