Hoboken, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's track and field team have placed six student-athletes on the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Metro Region Team, including two who earned repeat selection from last season.
The top-8 individuals in each event from each of the 10 regions also used during cross-country season, as well as each member of the region's top-8 relay teams earned All-Region distinction.
The repeat selections from last season were
Danny Jutras for the 800 meters and
Brandon Kiefer for the heptathlon; Jutras earned a second All-Region nod as part of the distance medley relay team that included
Christopher Reyes,
Markus Soennichsen, and
Ryan Paradine.
Kane Perry rounded out the All-Region six, earning selection for the weight throw.
Jutras, already the school record holder in the 800 (indoor AND outdoor) created a little more separation on the all-time leaderboard, running 1:53.22 at Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational, the same event in which he initially set the indoor program record last year.
Kiefer capped his indoor season with a 4,677 point performance at the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Indoor Championships, the second highest total in the event in program history, just 42 points off Victor Servito's program record set back in March of 2013.
The Paradine/Reyes/Soennichsen/Jutras DMR team clocked the fifth-fastest time in program history at the Fastrack National Invitational the first weekend of February, clocking the second-fastest time since 2019.
Perry made quite the splash in his first season in Hoboken, recording top five marks in the shot put and weight throw, including a top distance of 15.53 meters (50 feet, 11.5 inches) in the latter that earned him a spot in the region's top-8.
